I saw that charming film "The Love Letter" with Jennifer Jason Leigh
and Scott Campbell
on TV last week, and while I managed to find out that Jack Finney
(Invasion of
the Body Snatchers etc.) wrote the short story, I couldn't find the
script for the
movie on Google - there are two or three other films also called The
Love Letter,
one with Kate Capshaw, which I saw (it was so-so) and one Japanese one
and one with Jamie Lee Curtis, so that rather complicated the issue.
Thanks for any info anyone might have.

--- Not sure if you did a straightforward search or directed it at
sites that carry screenplays, but if you just type in 'free screenplay
download' as the key words in the Google search window, you'll come
across a number of sites to choose from. No guarantee that you'll
find the script, though. |

imdb.com to make sure you get the writer's name of the one you're
looking for. Then you can try www.scripthouse.com. |

You can ask the person who wrote it to send you a copy.
In Hollywood, script writers all they do is mail scripts to people, ...
the garbage cans in Hollywood are filled with scripts!
Find out who wrote it
send him or her a letter
on your production company letterhead
tell him to mail you the script.
You take the letter
put a stamp on it
and mail it!
What do you think will happen?
Only two things can possibly happen,
you either get a copy of the script or you don't.
You have a 50-50 chance.
The Starmaker
Can you imagine what will go through his mind when he gets a letter from a production
company in SWITZERLAND asking for a copy of the script "The Love Letter". How could he *not* send it?
He's probably on the picket line right now being stepped on by David's Lettermen writers! |

If you're gonna do that, look it up on imdb, then call the WGA. But
it's probably not their property to give away now, but the studio's. |

I typed in "free screenplay downloads" and got so many results,
I'll have to take a month off work to check...soooooo cool,
thanks a lot, and thanks everybody else for your information.
Happy New Year!

Thanks, yes, it is the Capshaw movie. The one I'm talking about
is
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0140340/
but I see it's a TV movie, so probably the script by Jim Henerson
isn't
available^anyway. Someone wrote in a newspaper article that he
saw the film "The Lake House" and found it similar to the Love Letter
film, so I'll check that film out.
I'm fascinated by this plot as I wrote a short story called "The
Vicomte"
('cos he's French) which is a similar bridge-across-time theme
where a man in 1790 is able to see and hear and even touch
a woman in 2006, he thinks she's a ghost, she thinks he's a
guy in costume. I liked this plotline so well, that the next story
I am writing has the title "The Return of the Vicomte."
Of course it is neither new nor original. For example,"Frequency" is
a
movie I liked, with Dennis Quaid etc. where father and
son correspond via wireless/walkie-talkie, CB, whatdyacallit,
and manage to change history by doing so.
But just because an idea isn't new, doesn't mean it can not
appeal.

Great. Tons 'o data.
Now I'm going to have to add them to Scriptionary.
N.B. This isn't a promotion for the service. Nothing p*sses me off
than someone appearing to have no affiliation with a resource and push

Scriptionary (*not* to be confused with Scriptionary.com), is what
Google calls a CSE - Custom Search Engine.
I started building it a month or two ago and and have been adding
entries as they are posted on Larry Brody's TV site (www.tvwriter.com)
-- although I'm a bit behind schedule of late. I rarely make it to
usenet, so I haven't gleaned information (from) here.
I'm in the process of creating a startup web service - priorities are
priorities.
I haven't been able to devote any time to TV ideas beyond writing
enough notes I won't forget them. (the list is becoming quite long)
The nice thing about a CSE is you can reduce searching the world via
Google.com to a specific list of links, as well as exclude addresses.
In this case scripts. There are a lot of them (CSEs). The search
words you see on the front page:
The keywords you see on the front screen don't tell anything about the
CSE's data.
It's the keywords which will display the CSE should someone search the
body of CSEs.
Like Google.com, you have to enter the search criteria.
(the only hand-holding you get is from relevant sites.)

p.s.
Now I just have to figure out which of these settings are the best:
I'll wrap a stamp around a Jelly Belly and send it to the best help.
(If it's lost en route -- e.g., someone eats it -- it's not my fault.
