Onc, oh so many moons ago, I was writing a book about Gregory Peck,
without ever
having met him or anything, and I gave up after 50 pages.
BUT before I stopped writing, I wrote to Deborah Kerr, Lilian Gish,
Lee Remick -
and they all replied, so nicely too, and Deborah Kerr's letter was so
kind, so
I wrote back, and she wrote a second letter. Isn't that nice?

I was sorry to hear of her death a month ago, and her husband Peter
Viertel's
death only 19 days after hers, after a 47-year marriage.
We have her films and his writing.
