Hey, I just got out of school (I was a theatre major) but the program
didn't have any sort of business aspect...I'm interested in producing
(my own work at least, if not more) but there's very little I can find
on the web about theatre producing. I found one blog by a producer
(called TheProducersPerspective.com ) which is really interesting and
I now read that everyday, is there any other stuff out there people
can recommend?

Have you tried books? I can't remember specific titles, but back when I was
a theater major, there were many dozens of books on the nuts and bolts of
producing theater. Don't tell me your school didn't have a library.

"The Commercial Theatre Institute Guide to Producing Plays and
Musicals", edited by Frederic B. Vogel, is quite recent, and it's
terrific - it consists of interviews with working producers and others
involved in the production process, including many major figures in
today's Broadway scene:

Donald C. Farber's "From Option to Opening: A Guide to Producing Plays
Off-Broadway" is also very useful:
http://www.amazon.com/Option-Opening-Producing-Broadway-Revised/dp/0879103183/ref=pd_sim_b_title_1/103-1592156-3189407

Neither of them are particularly expensive; for someone interested in
pursuing producing as a career, they're probably essential
investments.

It would probably also be a good idea to look at two books by Charles
Grippo - "The Stage Producer's Business and Legal Guide", and
"Business and Legal Forms for Theater".

I've heard good things about the Commercial Theater Institute:

www.commercialtheaterinstitute.com/

Many producers today learned the nuts and bolts there.

That's a good suggestion...I've read up on a lot but I'm looking for
hands on experience.

This looks awesome. Thanks for the suggestion. Do you have any sort of
producing experience? If so, what did you find the most helpfulwhen
you were just starting out?
