Before you see the play, you should see the movie because it is soooo
funny!! The main character is Gene Wylder and the cast is just
hilarious!! The director is Mel Brooks and if you like this movie
watch other movies such as Blazing saddles, History of the World Part
1, and Robin Hood Men in Tights!! He directs and acts in all of the
movies!! If you want to talk about this more, reply back to me!!

peace out,
Beth520

Mel wasn't in YF (there was a gargoyle that looked like him) or "Men in
Tights" "High Anxiety" is another keeper. There a nod to "The
Honeymooners" with a Character called Norton (played by the actor who
was the CAPO on the Star Trek EP "A Piece of the Action" and a Gleson
lookalike. The film spoofs Hitchcock.

No, the main character is Frankenstein (pron. Fronk-en-steen, lol).
The actor was the phenomenal comic Gene Wilder, who has no "y" in his
name.

(Sorry - just had to...)

It would only be funny if they did a Lion King rippoff and had an effect
where an endlessly long spaceship flew in over the audience.

I think Blazing Saddles would be better. A SINGING Black Sherriff? The
climatic scene would be a masterpiece of humor and choreography, if
they could make it happen night after night after night.

That end fight with the folks going on other films sets might be hard to do.

I know. But it'd be worth seeing-- and it would feel like the last
number would be driving the insanity. Then you get a non-sequitur
respite like you're in a different show, only to have the reprise of
your life. But the demands of modern Broadway means that it can't be
improv, since people could get injured during the pie fight, and
quality control over the performance, etc.

I understand this YF has more of a story something about the
grandfather's ghost, is that who the other gent I saw on the special is?

In the Robin Hood flick, Brooks was a riotous Rabbinical version of
the beloved 'Friar Tuck', and whoever it was singing for Robin H.
(perhaps Cary Elwes, himself?) did a model-rendition of 'The Night is
Young and You're So Beautiful'.
