cdg os x

I have mp3 and cdg files, but do not know how to get them burned to a
cd that will work on a karaoke. i have tried making a bin and burning
that but it did not work. any help would be appreciated - Mark

Use MP3+G Toolz to create a bin file.
Burn the bin file with a RAW mode setting.
I used CDRWin 4.0, works like a dream.

Used to be you had to buy a special burner, no more expensive, just
one that could burn raw tracks Yamaha, Plextor, to produce karaoke
disks else youd end up with music but no grafix.. Now Im told most
burners can do this.

Try asking in alt.binaries.sounds.karaoke for more help on burning
disks.

A few things to watch out for, Mark.
Be sure the mp3 and cdg files are named exactly the same, except of
course for the file extension.
Example: CB90206-01 - Randy Travis - Diggin' Up Bones.mp3
CB90206-01 - Randy Travis - Diggin' Up Bones.cdg

If you are burning files from various manufacturers, such as Sound
Choice, SunFly, etc, then you may need to rename the files to
something like this:
SC123-01 - Randy Travis - Diggin' Up Bones.mp3
SC123-01 - Randy Travis - Diggin' Up Bones.cdg
Renamed to: MyDisc-01 - Randy Travis - Diggin' Up Bones.mp3
Renamed to: MyDisc-01 - Randy Travis - Diggin' Up Bones.cdg
SF076-06 - Tanya Tucker - Kicker.mp3
SF076-06 - Tanya Tucker - Kicker.cdg
Renamed to: MyDisc-02 - Tanya Tucker - Kicker.mp3
Renamed to: MyDisc-02 - Tanya Tucker - Kicker.mp3

The reason for this is because when you use MP3+G Toolz to create bin
files for your collection it will generate a cue file, which is used
to instruct your burning software where to place each song. It will go
by Alphabetical and then numerical order when it does this. So be sure
your files are named keeping in mind the order you want on your disc.
Keep your naming convention the same for all songs also. Use the order
as shown above or reverse Artist Name with Song Title. It doesn't
matter just so long as you are consistent in your renaming.
One other little hint is to watch out for songs that have periods in
the title. Like Y. M. C. A. Because your programs won't know what to
do when they read the files that end with two periods at the
extension.
So it should be like this: Y M C A.mp3 and Y M C A.cdg or remove the
spaces entirely and have it like this: YMCA.mp3 and YMCA.cdg
Now once your files are all renamed correctly and in a separate folder
from all other files, run your MP3+G Toolz and create the bin files
for the songs and it will generate a .cue file. It's the .cue file
that you need to load into your burning program like CDRWin or Nero
or Alcohol 120 or whatever.
With Nero Burning or Alcohol 120 you MUST set it so that it burns at
the lowest possible speed. You can't be in a hurry when burning cdgs.
4X or 8X should be used. A few times it may work at 12X but beyond
that the graphics files will not burn properly or not at all.
Except for CDRWin, all burner software programs need to be set to burn
using data type DAO/SAO or RAW SAO or RAW DAO.
I hope this helps you and eliminates some frustrations that you may be
having.

available which shows the process step by step using Alcohol 120.

Any idea if the burners that come with most laptops can do it, too?
It's hard to find data on those laptop burners.

Many laptops have Matshita drives in them -- they will not work. Many Sony
Vaios do not work, however some of them are. HPs and Dells usually work.

Thanks. HP (and perhaps others) use the LightScribe technology in
some of their laptop drives which would be perfect with CD+G
capability as well. Any experience with the Fujitsu Lifebook models?

No, this is a discussion group. alt.binaries.sounds.karaoke is the binaries
group for mp3+g karaoke.
